Girona head coach Michel Sanchez commented on his team’s 1-0 win over Alaves in the Spanish league.

“It was a very difficult match and not our best game, that’s the reality. We started well, but little by little the opponent began to press better and we struggled throughout the match, especially in the attacking zone, where we lacked determination.

The players told me that the pitch was a bit uneven and because of that it was difficult for us to look forward and move the ball from side to side, especially in the first half. It is very important to start the year with a win. This allows us to continue to work with confidence and maintain this positive momentum,” said Michel.
