The 33-year-old performer spent only half a year in the Spanish team, after being transferred from Brazilian Sao Paulo as a free agent.

One of the options was the Colombian club Junior de Barranquilla, however, in an interview the day before, the club’s majority shareholder Fuad Char summed up the disappointing results of the three-day meeting with the player.
“We have evaluated the offers for some of the contracts that James Rodriguez already has. I have come to the conclusion that these clubs have much higher offers, almost double what we can offer.
