1,000 hryvnias from the government have no relation to the population census – a sociologist

Conducting a census of the population of Ukraine in the conditions of war is necessary, but its implementation currently remains unattainable. This was stated by the sociologist and head of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M. IN. Ella Libanova’s birds. She also denied the connection between the payment of UAH 1,000 as part of “Winter eSupport” and the population census. She said this in an interview for the BBC, reports UNN.

According to Ella Libanova, a census of the population of Ukraine is needed, but it is impossible to conduct it in the conditions of war. In addition, she refuted the theory that UAH 1,000 from the government is an analogue of the population census.

“But this is nonsense, it has nothing to do with the population census at all. We have a method developed, adapted, adjusted, it is believed to be unique in the world. We more or less accurately estimate the population size. The issue is not the number. The population census is it’s not about the number, it’s about the composition of the population. It’s about the educational, ethnic, family composition, living conditions,” said the expert.

Previously, a number of People’s Deputies and experts assumed that the distribution of UAH 1,000 under the “Winter eSupport” program aims to renumber the population.
