Zelenskyi on the age of mobilization: If a person is unarmed, what difference does it make if he is 20 or 30?

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the discussion about the possible lowering of the mobilization age, noted that now it is more urgent to provide the army with weapons and training from the West.

He said this at a press conference in Brussels, “European Truth” reports.

When asked to comment on discussions in the West about lowering the age of mobilization to 18, the president said: “Tell me, please, if a person is standing in front of you without a weapon, what difference does it make if that person is 20 years old or 30? There is no difference.”

“That is, the partners pay attention to the physical capabilities of this or that military. And I pay attention to the fact that we have “naked” brigades… We have enough different brigades: there are strong brigades, and there are brigades that are not equipped, first of all, with weapons “, he added.

The head of state further said that he considers the demands in the West to lower the age of mobilization “not very fair”, citing as an example the problems with the training of Ukrainian brigades abroad.

“When we talked about the training of 14 brigades – at least 12 brigades abroad… and today we have one brigade that was trained in France, and one that is currently being additionally trained in Germany by the United States, by the way,” he claims.

At the same time, Zelensky admitted that “there are always not enough people”, giving another argument – about the technology of the current war in Ukraine.

“Modern technologies – missiles, drones, long-range capabilities, anti-aircraft defense – these are all very important things. How can you work forward if anti-aircraft missiles are falling from the sky, and you do not control the sky? That is, there is not enough air defense and the number of F-16s in our sky is still too small “, the head of state said.

We will remind you that in recent weeks there have been rumors from the USA public and non-public appeals to Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 years, with the argument that the shortage of personnel at the front is becoming critical, and it is precisely because of this that Russia manages to advance in the east.

According to the mass media, disputes surround the quantitative indicators of mobilization and the mobilization age led to tension in relations between the presidents of Ukraine and the USA.
