Direct language: “We will do our best to take this meeting. If Putin is really ready not only in the media, but in real life to meet. And then at the level of leaders, we will do everything to agree on the ceasefire. Because it is with him that I have to negotiate a ceasefire. Because only he decides.”

Details: According to Zelensky, if Putin expresses his readiness for an unconditional ceasefire during the negotiations, it will open the way to more detailed negotiations to end the war as a whole.

The President also hoped that US President Donald Trump will join his negotiation with the Russian leader.

Direct language: “We suggested that Trump President join. I do not know the decision of the President of the United States, but in any case, if he confirmed his participation, I think it would have had an additional impulse before Putin to arrive.”

That preceded: Zelensky reported that on Thursday he has a planned meeting with Turkish President Recep Taiip Erdogan in Ankara, but if the Kremlin head agrees to fly to Istanbul, then he and Erdogan will fly to him.

US President Donald Trump Special Supporters Steve Witcoff and Kit Kellogg will go to Istanbul, where negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation can take place on Thursday.

Presidential Office Andriy Yermak said that if Putin refuses to come to Turkey, it would be the last signal of Russia’s reluctance to end the war.

At the same time, the Kremlin stated that the Russian side continues to prepare for negotiations in Istanbul on May 15 and other comments.
