At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on October 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented the points of his proposed “plan for victory” of Ukraine in the war with Russia. It consists of five public items and several classified applications. According to the president, the first point is to invite Ukraine to NATO.
The administration of US President Joe Biden previously stated that there is still no consensus among NATO members regarding the invitation of Ukraine to the alliance, which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy identified as the first point of his “victory plan.”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine will join the alliance in the future and become its 33rd or 34th member. Answering a question about Zelenskyi’s call to invite Kyiv to join NATO, Rutte called Ukraine’s path to the alliance irreversible.
