Zelensky introduced sanctions against Russia’s financial sector

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi agreed to the introduction of sanctions against Russia’s financial sector, according to the corresponding decree No. 24/2025, published on the website of the Office of the Head of State.

“I signed today (January 13 – ed.) documents regarding sanctions. Decree on the introduction of sanctions against the financial sector of Russia. 140 different entities,” Zelenskyi informed in a new video message on January 13.

The president also emphasized that “Ukraine will continue to work with partners to reconcile this pressure.”

At the same time, the head of state says that he has initiated a draft law on criminal liability for attempts to circumvent sanctions, “and this is in many respects a continuation of the international practice of attitudes towards sanctions.”

“We all understand: the more pressure there is on the aggressor, the closer peace is. Sanctions are one of the most effective tools of fair pressure on Russia and everyone associated with it or working for war. This bill will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” he summarized.

Earlier, on January 10, the United States imposed sanctions on more than 30 Russian oil service companies. At the same time, the restrictions also affected the Serbian company, which is related to Gazprom Neft.
