Prehistory:

  • On November 18, Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov announced that a military ombudsman will appear in Ukraine – he will take care of the protection of the rights of servicemen. Then Umerov said that the appointment would be announced soon.
  • On November 19, Zelenskyi said that he instructed the Ministry of Defense and the military command to select and appoint a military ombudsman in the near future.
  • Since 2022, fighters have sent 1,964 complaints against military units to the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
