Weather Advisory Issued for Lviv Amid Strong Winds and Icy Roads

The Lviv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology has issued a storm warning as the week begins, alerting residents to dangerous weather conditions.

Forecasts indicate that wind gusts in Lviv and the surrounding region could reach speeds of 15 to 20 meters per second on February 23. Additionally, the agency warns of icy conditions on the roads.

As a result of the adverse weather, a yellow alert has been declared for Lviv Oblast, indicating a level one danger.

Weather Conditions in Lviv

On February 23, atmospheric fronts moving in from the west will influence the weather in Lviv. The day is expected to be mostly cloudy with occasional clear spells. Rain is likely, with some areas experiencing sleet. Light ice may form overnight and in the morning, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Wind speeds will range from 9 to 14 meters per second, with gusts reaching 15 to 20 meters per second. Temperatures across the region are forecasted to be between +3°C and +8°C, while Lviv itself will see readings of +5°C to +7°C.

In the coming days, temperatures are expected to gradually rise, with cold nights followed by warmer days. A mix of precipitation types, including snow, sleet, and rain, is anticipated.

It is important to note that a warming trend accompanied by rain and sleet will affect much of Ukraine, while the eastern regions are expected to remain predominantly dry. On February 23, temperatures across the country are projected to increase to mild levels.
