“If you take the current line of clash between Russia and Ukraine and try to find some settlement by negotiations that will suit both Ukrainians and Russians, where they will be able to live in a relative peace where the murder will stop, it will not make anyone too happy,” he said.
“Both Russians and Ukrainians are likely to be dissatisfied with this, but I do not think you can sit down and have these negotiations without Donald Trump’s leadership,” Vance added.
He recounts Trump’s words after a morning conversation with him: “Maybe it will work, maybe not, but it’s worth the effort, it’s worth trying, and we will continue to use the diplomatic influence of the President of the United States to achieve and put an end to this conflict.”
That preceded: Vance does not think that the meeting of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky with the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin to the meeting with the latter with American leader Donald Trump would be productive.
