India has become the world’s largest buyer in Russian oil exported by sea, buying oil at a discount and increasing its purchases from almost a third of its imports from scratch.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to impose secondary duties on Russian oil buyers.
And last week, the US President singled out India, saying that it would pay an additional economic penalty for its current purchases.
After that, the media reported that India’s largest refining plant had purchased millions of barrels of oil in the US and the United Arab Emirates against Trump’s promises to introduce high duties for Russian oil buyers.
And the deputy head of the White House apparatus Stephen Miller, who is one of Trump’s most influential advisers, accused India of financing the war of Russia against Ukraine.
