The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, in addition to Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, visited Kupyansk in Kharkiv region.

“Today is at the front. Now – Kupyansk. Already been to Pokrovsk. In our brigades. I congratulated the boys and girls – our soldiers – on Sergeant’s Day. Sergeants are warriors without whom the normal work of officers and our units in general cannot be imagined. I am grateful to all sergeants, who are truly an example for a soldier,” said the message released in his telegram.

The President of Ukraine honored the best soldiers with state awards, listened to the reports of commanders, as well as reports on the security situation and the social situation in Donetsk region and Kharkiv region.

Last week there were reports that a small number of Russian troops were able to enter Kupyansk, but the Center for Strategic Communications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces denied them, noting that the city is fully under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, and Ukrainian soldiers stopped the enemy’s advance on Kupyansk.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces were already occupying Kupyansk. But in September 2022, the city was liberated from Russian troops.

Currently, in the Kharkiv region, hostilities continue in two directions – in the north of the region and in the Kupyansk region.

At the end of October, the head of the Kupyan city military administration, Andriy Besedin, said on Espresso that Russian troops were 2.5-3 kilometers away from the city.
