According to the message, under the procedural leadership of the Sumy District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.
“According to the investigation, on September 18, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., the occupiers fired artillery at the civilian infrastructure of the Krasnopil community of the Sumy district. As a result of the aggressor’s attack, a 73-year-old man and his 72-year-old wife died. Another pensioner couple was injured and hospitalized. After some time, the 66-year-old woman died in the hospital,” the message reads.
Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of the shelling, the pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Sumy District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police, the OGP reported.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration previously reported two deaths due to Russian shelling.
According to OVA, during the night and morning, Russian troops carried out 19 shellings of the border territories and populated areas of the region. Sumy, Bezdrytska, Mykolayivska, Yunakivska, Bilopolska, Krasnopilska, Velikopysarivska, Novoslobidska, Esmanska communities were attacked.
The forces of the Russian Federation regularly attack Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.
The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.
