The training of new recruits to participate in hostilities should last two months – Syrskyi

The Ukrainian military command believes that the training of new recruits to participate in hostilities should last two months. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on December 27 following the results of a special meeting on this matter.

“Quality training is, first of all, the preserved life and health of our soldiers. In accordance with the decisions I made, we already have the first graduations of servicemen who underwent basic general military training (BZVP) for 1.5 months – instead of the former 30-day training. The further course of a novice in the military unit is provided for (a period of) 5–14 days,” the military commander wrote in a telegram.

Syrsky admits that “in the current conditions of intense hostilities, this requirement is not always met.”

“He stressed the need to ensure a full 14-day adaptation period for new recruits in the brigades. Commanders must prepare the soldier as much as possible for the challenges of modern warfare in order to keep him in combat. Heard reports on training problems and their solutions. Defined the tasks for improving the quality of training and increasing it. In particular, the updating of BZVP standards, the implementation of BZVP on the funds of combat brigades, etc.,” the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated, thanking “the commanders who are responsible for the training and preservation of personnel.”
