The Russian Federation attacked Ukraine at night with 85 drones, they were shot down or “lost in location” – Air Force

On the night of December 19, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 85 Shahed attack drones and drones of other types from the Bryansk, Kursk, Millerov and Oryol regions of the Russian Federation, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. In addition, according to the report, the Russian army struck with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the occupied Crimea and the Rostov region of Russia and a guided air missile Kh-59/69 from the airspace of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

“As of 08:30, the downing of 45 Shahed-type attack UAVs and drones of other types in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions has been confirmed. As a result of active countermeasures by the Defense Forces, 40 enemy drone simulators were lost in location (without negative consequences),” the Air Force said.

They added that as a result of the missile attack, private, apartment buildings and municipal property were damaged in Sumy Oblast and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, without any casualties or damage.

“No UAV hits were recorded, no information about destruction or casualties was received,” the Air Force clarified.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
