Details: The defenders shared a video showing the construction of passages in engineering barriers, the landing of airborne assault units on enemy territory, and the first battles in the border strip, where DSHV tankers “dismantle” the enemy’s stronghold.
The fighters did not say exactly where they managed to break through the section of the border with the Russian Federation.
Prehistory:
- The Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region began on August 6, 2024. On August 10, on the fifth day of the offensive of the Ukrainian army deep into Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi admitted that Ukraine has pushed the war onto the land of the aggressor.
- On August 27, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky announced that since the beginning of the operation in the Kursk region of Russia, Ukraine captured 594 enemy soldiers and controls more than 100 settlements, or 1,294 square kilometers.
- As is known from open sources, the core of the Kursk operation became two brigades of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the legendary and powerful Lviv 80th and the Chernivtsi 82nd, which was formed last year. In the second week of the operation, they were joined by a part of the no less hardened 95th brigade of the DSHV.
