The General Staff of the Armed Forces recorded 125 combat clashes at the front since the beginning of the day

Since the beginning of the day, 125 combat clashes took place at the front in various directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports in a summary as of 4 p.m. on January 19.

In particular, Russian troops attacked twice unsuccessfully near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv direction, and seven more times in the Kupyansk direction, where three clashes are ongoing.

“In the Lyman direction, 14 clashes took place near Novoyehorivka, Nadia, Novosergiivka, Novosadovo, Zarichny, Kolodyazyu, Zelena Dolyna, Terni and in Serebryansk forestry. “Seven skirmishes continue so far,” the summary reads.

The defense forces repelled two Russian attacks in the Seversky direction, near Ivano-Daryivka and Verkhnyokamyanskyi. Another five of the 12 skirmishes continue in the Kramatorsk direction in the area of ​​Chasovoy Yar and Bila Hora. Another 11 attacks out of 17 were repulsed in the Toretsk direction.

“High activity of the enemy is currently maintained in the Pokrovsky direction. Clashes of varying intensity started 62 times today near the settlements of Zelene Pole, Oleksandropil, Vodiane Druge, Elizavetivka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Shevchenko, Udachne, Uspenivka, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Novotroitske, Novoandriivka, Slovianka , Petropavlivka, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly and Yantarna, 15 clashes continue until now,” the General Staff reports.

The Russian army attacked 12 times in the areas of Konstantinopol and Velika Novosilka in the Novopavlovsk direction, four clashes are ongoing.

In the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian military reportedly repulsed one attack by the Russian army, and at the time of the attack, four clashes were recorded.

Russian troops did not conduct active operations in the Gulyaipil, Orihiv, and Dnieper directions.

The other day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an interview with Polish mass media that the most difficult situation at the front is in the east of Ukraine, where there is a large concentration of Russian troops and equipment, and where there are fewer Ukrainian troops. The President added that there is a lack of aid at the front and, above all, it is not a question of the number of people – currently there are brigades that are staffed with 60-70% weapons due to the delay in the delivery of aid from Ukraine’s partners.

According to the observations of the Institute for the Study of War on January 13, Russian troops are cutting roads to the east and west of Pokrovsk in an attempt to surround the city.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.

Viktor Tregubov, the spokesman of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, reported that Russian troops are trying to bypass the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region in order to break logistical chains and take the city into an operational encirclement.
