The European Commission has presented a “White Book” to build a Europe’s defense

The European Commission and the high representative of the EU have presented the “White Book on European Defense – Readiness of 2030”.

Details: The White Book forms a new approach to defense and determines the EU’s investment needs. As the head of European diplomacy Kai Callas explained, the White Book presents decisions aimed at eliminating critical gaps in the capabilities and building a powerful defense industrial base.

“We do this not to fight in the war, but to prepare for wars and defend peace in Europe,” Callas said.

The White Book offers ways to Member States for significant investments in defense, the purchase of defense systems and increasing the readiness of the European defense industry in the long run.

“This is important for Europe’s security. Europe should invest in the security and defense of the continent while continuing to support Ukraine in its protection against Russian aggression,” the European Commission emphasized.

To effectively resolve these challenges in the White Book outlined a number of key areas of action:

• Elimination of gaps in forces and means with an emphasis on critical forces and means determined by Member States;
• Support of the European Defense Industry through aggregate demand and increased purchases;
• Support of Ukraine by increasing military assistance and deepening the integration of the European and Ukrainian defense industry;
• Deepening the pan -European defense market, including by simplifying regulation;
• Accelerating the transformation of defense with breakthrough innovations, such as artificial intelligence and quantum technologies;
• Increasing the readiness of Europe for the worst scenarios by improving military mobility, accumulation of stocks and strengthening external borders, in particular the land border with Russia and Belarus;
• Strengthening partnership with like-minded countries around the world.

Recall:

• At the beginning of March, the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Lyen has proved a five -stage plan of re -equipment of the European Union and the support of Ukraine Rearm Europe with a value of up to 800 billion euros.
• During an extraordinary defense summit of EU leaders on March 6, all the leaders of the EU states, including Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, voted unanimously for the Rearm Europe’s proposal.
