The State Bureau of Investigation carried out investigative actions in the apartment of the mother of pilot Andrei Polshchikov Lilia Averyanova because the activist, the head of the CPC Vitaliy Shabunin temporarily resided before the declaration of suspicion. This does not apply to the memory of the deceased Hero of Ukraine.

Details: According to Sapyan, one of these places was an apartment in Kharkiv, in which Shabunin lived in fact until the moment of announcement of his suspicion – until the morning of July 10.

The bureau stressed that criminal proceedings and conducting investigative actions in no way concern the mother of the dead hero and were aimed solely to obtain evidence of the unlawful activity of the person.

Prehistory:

• In March 2024, the head of the Corruption Center Vitaliy Shabunin stated that the State Bureau of Investigation had registered two criminal proceedings against him: for “evasion of military service” and “forgery of documents from NAPC”.
• Shabunin himself stated that he voluntarily mobilized in the Armed Forces in the early days of the war and showed a photo of a military ticket stating that he took the oath of military oath on February 25, 2022.
• On July 11, 2025, the DBR announced Shabunin of suspicion of evasion of military service and fraud.
• Shabunin called President Vladimir Zelensky after the searches and stated that he was taking “confident steps towards corruption authoritarianism.”
• On July 15, the Pechersk Court of Kiev elected Shabunin a preventive measure in the form of a personal obligation by August 20.
