On January 9, the White House will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine, the Associated Press agency reports with reference to two sources.

The official announcement, according to AP, will take place during the visit of US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to Germany.

This package will be the last for the Joe Biden administration. The sources noted that it will be “significant”, but it is unlikely to include all four billion dollars that the US Congress has already approved for Ukraine.

In recent weeks, the Biden administration has accelerated the sending of military aid to Ukraine, fearing that Donald Trump, after returning to the White House, may refuse to transfer to Kyiv the funds allocated by Congress, which at that time will not be spent. At the end of December, Washington announced the allocation of 2.5 billion dollars – this package became the largest since January 2023.
