The Armed Forces revealed who decided to award the order to the brigadier general of the 211th brigade for the corruption case

The application for awarding the commander of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade, Colonel Oleg Poberezhnyuk, with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree was signed by the acting commander of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Onishchuk. At that time, Poberezhnyuk had not yet been charged with abuse of office, but he appeared in the pre-trial investigation.

Based on the results of the inspection, the commander of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered an official investigation, the materials of which were sent to the Ternopil Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region. He paid a fine of 34,000 hryvnias.

On the day of the publication of the UP investigation, on December 16, by order of Commander-in-Chief Pastukh, he was transferred to another type of Armed Forces.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Poberezhnyuk with the order on November 1, 2024. At that time, he was already involved in a pre-trial investigation into the involvement of subordinates in the construction of a house in Khmelnytskyi at a time when they were, according to documents, assigned to perform military tasks in the south of Ukraine.

Encouraging military personnel with state awards is carried out on the basis of reports from their immediate superiors. On the basis of these reports, a submission is made to the relevant body. The relevant submission was signed by certain officials and the acting commander.”

• On December 16, “Ukrainian Pravda” published an investigation into the extortion of money and abuse of servicemen in the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Armed Forces Support Forces.
• Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky ordered an inspection and suspended the commander of the military unit Oleg Poberezhniuk for the duration of the inspection.
• On December 17, the employees of the State Criminal Investigation Department opened criminal proceedings regarding the discovery of possible facts of the use of non-statutory measures of influence and violence against subordinates by officials of the 211 pontoon-bridge brigade.
• The commander of this unit, Colonel Poberezhnyuk, was informed of the suspicion of abuse of office.
• On December 19, the court chose a preventive measure for him – detention for two months with the right to post bail in the amount of 908,400 hryvnias.
