51 of the 76 deputies present voted for the resolution. Among them are all members of the SNS faction, the majority of Prime Minister Robert Fitzo Smer-SD, some MPs from the HLAS-SD Coalition Party, as well as several non-factional ones.
Only one MP-Jan Ferenchak with Hlas-SD, opposed, another 23 parliamentarians from the same party abstained.
Opposition deputies boycotted the vote without appearing at him.
The resolution states that sanctions against Russia cause an increase in energy prices, violations of supply chains and a decrease in the competitiveness of the Slovak economy.
The document rejects any further extension of restrictions that, according to the authors, can adversely affect the industry, economy and well-being of citizens.
In addition, the Slovak Parliament called on the government to strongly protect national economic interests in foreign policy and oppose international steps that can damage the economy of Slovakia.

The Slovak President Peter Pellegrini rejected the petition the day before demanding a referendum to abolish sanctions against Russia.
In early May, Pellegrini received a petition from the far -right party “Slovak Renaissance” (SHO) on the referendum on cancellation of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which gained 400,000 signatures.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo later stated that he would support such a referendum.
