Slovak deputies flew to Moscow to talk about gas, Poland did not miss their plane

A group of far-right Slovak deputies led by the vice-speaker and leader of the “Slovak National Party” Andriy Danko went to Russia for a few days, where they plan to discuss the continuation of the supply of Russian gas. According to Danko, Poland did not allow the plane to fly over its territory.

Details: A delegation headed by Danko and a member of Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Smer-SD party, Tybor Gaspar, set off on the morning of Sunday, January 12.

In addition to them, three more Smer-SD deputies (Marian Kery, Jan Mazgut and Richard Gluk) and Danko’s fellow party member from the “Slovak National Party” Adam Luchanskyi are included.

The trip will last until January 15. Danko and Gaspar said they were planning meetings with deputies of the Russian State Duma and some representatives of the Russian government. Among other things, they plan to raise the question of whether Gazprom would be able to continue supplying gas to Slovakia after Ukraine did not renew the transit agreement with the Russian company.

The leader of the “Slovak National Party” says that he wants to “convey information” about life in Russia, and “show that people also live there, that Germans, French, and Americans do business there.”

Danko stated that they had to fly through the Czech Republic and Germany because Poland did not allow them to fly over its territory. “I don’t understand Poland’s position, but I accept it as a given,” he said.

Meanwhile, Slovak Aktuality reports that the trip is being carried out with budget funds – despite Danko’s earlier statements that it will be carried out at the deputies’ own expense.

What preceded: Announcing his trip to Russia, Danko said that he would “consider it an honor” to speak in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

The Embassy of Ukraine expressed its indignation at the intentions of the Slovak deputies, noting that such steps contribute to the legitimization of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
