“As of now, Germany has transferred a total of 55 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, which were decommissioned by the Bundeswehr”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
It is known that “the value of the order amounts to a double-digit number of millions of euros and is financed by Germany.”
According to the press service, a new order for HEI-T shells (high-explosive-incendiary with a tracer) was received in December 2024. In total, from February 2023, Rheinmetall received an order to supply 300,000 Gepard shells to Ukraine.
The company says that “the ordered munitions can be used to effectively re-engage various aerial targets, such as drones. They will be produced at the Rheinmetall plant in Unterluss. Due to the increased demand for 35-mm ammunition, the production line at the facility was rebuilt in a very short time in the spring of 2023.”
As of now, Germany has transferred a total of 55 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, which were decommissioned by the Bundeswehr. They have already proven their worth in air defense.
Rheinmetall also supplies Ukraine with various modern air defense systems, such as Skynex, which use AHEAD programmable air-detonation munitions.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Germany provided a significant amount of equipment, including air defense systems, Leopard tanks, howitzers, ammunition and mine clearance equipment.
