The publication also provides “red lines” of Ukraine in possible negotiations:
- The refusal to further transfer the territories, despite the desire of the ruler of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, to pick up four Ukrainian regions, partly occupied by Russia.
- The return of thousands of Ukrainian children stolen by Russia.
- The return of thousands of civilians illegally detained by Russia who are not considered prisoners of war and therefore will not be included in the exchange of prisoners of war.
- The need for international security guarantees in case Putin violates any ceasefire agreement.
Russia demands that Ukraine abandon Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are partly occupied by the Russian military since 2014 and have been illegally “annexed” by Russia contrary to international law.
Ukrainian officials have informed The Independent that they agree that the current front line will be frozen to reach a truce, but the concession of any additional territory would be a red line.
“To require, for example, Zaporizhzhya or Kherson regions are completely transferred, unreasonable,” the source said.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the fate of the territories occupied by Russia has not been resolved.
“We will do our best to return them diplomatic,” the source said.
According to the newspaper, there is a deep concern in Ukraine about the impact of ceasefire and freezing a line of collision on the fate of tens of thousands of Ukrainian children who were either forcibly exported to Russia or remained in the occupied territories during a full -scale invasion.
One of the key requirements of the agreement is the return of these children and the termination of the Russification policy, which includes compulsory receipt of Russian passports and re -education camps.

“There are red lines for Ukraine – in particular, that there can be no restrictions on the number of the army, and there can be no prohibitions on Ukraine’s participation [у міжнародних організаціях]including in the EU and NATO. Question [червоної лінії щодо] NATO also sounded from Ermak that Russia should not have the right to veto, “the source said.
