Re-pollution continues to move along the course of the Seim River. In the villages of Mutyn and Ozarychi, Sumy region, the water is cloudy, and the level of chemical oxygen consumption exceeds the norm by 4.3 times. This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine on September 22.

“In the city of Baturyn, there is darkening of the water, a slight specific smell, there is no fish plague. Chemical oxygen consumption exceeds the norm by 1.1 times. The oxygen regime is normal,” the report says.

The Ministry noted that further downstream, the water quality indicators did not change during the day – the water is clear, there is practically no sediment at the bottom, and no fish disease is observed.

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Environment, the situation is stabilizing on the Desna River.

“On the entire length of the Chernihiv region, the water has become lighter, in some places there is dark sediment on the bottom, an unpleasant smell and fish plague are not observed. Living aquatic bioresources are appearing in the river,” the post states.

The movement of pollution in the Kyiv region is not recorded.

On September 17, repeated pollution of the Seim River was recorded in Sumy Oblast. The water quality has deteriorated in the upper monitoring points in the section to the village of Mutyn. The reason for the repeated contamination is being investigated, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.

On August 27, the State Agency of Ukraine for the Development of Land Reclamation, Fisheries and Food Programs reported that large-scale pollution of the Seim River was caused in Russia. The pollution spread throughout the water area of ​​the Seim River within the Sumy Region and reached Chernihiv Oblast.

In four communities of the Konotop district of the Sumy region and in the Baturyn community of the Chernihiv region, bathing, fishing and the use of water for economic needs were prohibited.
