CNN adds that his visit will be the first visit to the Russian official to Washington for negotiations from the moment of invasion of Russia into Ukraine in 2022 and marks a further step in a noticeable warming of relations between the two countries after the return of President Donald Trump to the post.
Dmitriev is a close adviser to Putin and in February, together with other Russian officials, visited Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to start a discussion of settlement on the end of the war in Ukraine.
He also worked with Vitcoff over the release of American teacher Mark Fogel that the Trump administration congratulated as a gesture of goodwill.
The publication states that US authorities have temporarily lifted sanctions from Dmitriev to allow the State Department to issue him a visa for entry into the United States.
We will remind, from February 2022 Dmitriev has been under sanctions of the United States, Canada, the EU, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
