The protest continues near the building of the Tbilisi State University. Protesters blocked the intersection next to it. Fireworks continue despite the fact that dawn has come.
Yesterday evening, November 30, the police, with the help of special equipment, tried several times to disperse the rally, but some of the citizens did not disperse. The law enforcement officers forcibly drove them away from Rustaveli Avenue, from where the activists marched to Chavchavadze Avenue through Melikishvili Street.
Currently, protests are ongoing in Georgia due to the decision of the ruling party “Georgian Dream” to abandon negotiations with the EU on accession until 2028. Georgian security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters.
After October’s parliamentary elections, in which the ruling Georgian Dream party won 54 percent of the vote, the opposition and Western governments say the vote was marred by irregularities and Russian influence.
