Three of his novels were published: “The Holiday of the Tspa” from the Publishing House in 2024, “Modest Hero” in Folio in 2014, “The Call of the Tribe” from Annette Antenko’s publishing house in 2022.
The Book of Tsapa was published in Ukrainian translation in 2024
Plot
Lysosa’s writing career lasted more than 50 years, and during this time he has created a number of novels, theatrical plays and essays. In 2010 he won the Nobel Prize for “cartography of power structures and a sharp image of human resistance, rebellion and defeat“.
In addition to his writing career, Mario Vargas Liosa began his political career, running for presidents of Peru. However, this attempt became unsuccessful, he lost in the second round of Alberto Fuhimori.
”From my political experience, I realized that I was a writer, not a politician. I partially live in the life I have because I wanted to live full of adventure life. But my best adventures are more literary than political“, – the writer explained.

Liosa was at odds with another Latin American writer and the Nobel Prize – Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He explored Marquez’s work and polemicized the literature of the older and younger generation. However, when Marquez greeted Vargas Lioso near a movie theater in Mexico City in 1976, he received a blow to his face. Speaking in a west in Madrid three years after Marquez’s death in 2014, Vargas Lios said that he was sad to hear about the death of his former friend.
In 1963, his first novel “The Hero Time” was published in Spain. The story of murder at the Leonsio Prado Military Academy was so shocking for Peru that 1000 copies of the book were burned before entering the Academy. He spent two years in her teenage period.
In his subsequent works, he explored the topics of politics, corruption, the problem of dictatorship in the history of Latin America.
