The issues of land air defense are expected to be discussed at the meeting of NATO Member States in Brussels on Thursday, and the agency’s interlocutors added.
A high -ranking European military official said Bloomberg on the conditions of anonymity that NATO members were in dire need of growing air defense systems.
Over the last three decades, the Alliance has reduced the number of these systems as NATO’s attention has switched from the Cold War’s sphere of threats in the Middle East and North Africa, a source has added.
Increasing the number of weapons is part of the larger NATO large -scale ambitions to increase defense costs.
Under pressure from US President Donald Trump, the Alliance is expected to approve 5% of GDP, of which 3.5% of GDP will be directly defense, and another 1.5% of GDP – for defense, such as infrastructure, cyber defense and civil defense.
