“Solidarity with Ukraine!”, The protesters chanted, including many French, as well as representatives of the Georgian, Polish communities. Representatives of the City Hall of Paris, senators and deputies came to support the Ukrainians.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to France Vadim Omelchenko. He stressed that France stands in the position of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, nothing about Europe without Europe.”
Among the slogans at the rally were “Trump, Putin, no negotiations without Ukraine!”, “Putin is a massacre and murder” and “Ukraine is not for sale.”
“Today, we have traditionally urged France to attract our army as a guarantee of peace in Ukraine. And also in the speedy defrosting of Russian assets in support of Ukraine and a significant increase in military assistance itself,” said Vice president of the World Congress of Ukrainians and Deputy Chairman of the French Union Vladimir Kohutyak.
On the square of the Republic, the FEMEN activist held an action “If Russia ceases to fight, there will be no more wars. If Ukraine ceases to fight, there will be no more Europe.”
The rally ended with the concert of the soloist of the Ukrainian band “Shadow of the Sun” Sergey Vasilyuk and raising funds in support of the Armed Forces.
Later, on Sunday, Archbishop of Paris Laurent Ulrich headed the Mass for the victims of war and for peace in Ukraine in the Cathedral of Notre Dam de Pari.
In total, 52 Ukrainian rallies are planned to be held in different regions of France for the third anniversary of the Great War.
