The Russian military does not stop its attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector. Over the past day, objects in five regions of Ukraine were attacked, writes the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

According to the agency’s data, power outages occurred in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson regions due to shelling and fighting.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the situation in the regions is as follows:

  • In the Donetsk region, as a result of shelling, overhead lines were damaged, a substation was cut off. In the Kharkiv region, substations and household consumers were cut off due to shelling.
  • In the Poltava region, a high-voltage overhead line was shut down during an air alert, and a substation was de-energized.
  • A substation was also attacked in the Dnipropetrovsk region. During the inspection, the occupiers hit the substation again with a drone. Another electrician from electrical safety received a shrapnel wound. He was taken to the hospital.

The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that the significant damage caused by Russia’s mass attacks, in particular one of the largest attacks on the energy industry on August 26, continues to complicate the operation of the energy system. In addition, Russian troops do not stop daily shelling of energy infrastructure facilities.

According to the ministry, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, and this year alone, 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.

Earlier today, the UN mission said that Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have caused significant damage and could lead to even more devastating consequences as winter approaches.
