Details: Merz stressed that neither the government of Germany nor from the European Union received specific plans for the introduction of troops into Ukraine.

According to Chancellor, today the main guarantee of security for Ukraine is to support the Ukrainian army in the fight against Russian aggression. The issue of participation of the German military can only be considered in the long run – after the truce or the peace agreement.
“It will definitely not be sure to send troops to Ukraine until I have significant doubts about the participation of Germany,” he said.
Merz also stressed that any decision will need the Bundestag’s approval and will depend on agreements with Russia.
“It cannot be done contrary to Russia, only with it. There are many obstacles in this way, and it can take a long time,” he added.
