Latvia will transfer British CVR(T) armored vehicles to Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Latvia will transfer to Ukraine combat reconnaissance tracked armored vehicles CVR(T), which the country previously purchased from Britain.

This was reported by Delfi, “European Pravda” reports.

In order to ensure operational security, the department did not disclose the exact number of equipment.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds said that the procurement of new infantry fighting vehicles to replace the CVR(T) is in the final stages. These machines are necessary for rearming the Latvian army and participating in tactical operations.

The contract was signed back in 2014 for 123 armored vehicles, of which 116 are modernized, and Latvia signed another contract for the purchase of additional equipment with Britain in 2019.

As you know, starting in 2023, Latvia undertook to provide military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 0.25% of GDP annually until 2026.

The CVR(T) is a family of British tracked armored vehicles developed in the mid-20th century. Known for their high maneuverability and versatility, these vehicles can perform a wide range of missions, including reconnaissance, patrolling, fire support and casualty evacuation.

Earlier it was reported that Latvia will transfer to Ukraine hundreds of units of computer equipment, as well as specialized clothing, binoculars and other equipment for the Defense Forces.

On September 11, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinia announced that in the new military aid package for Ukraine there will be armored vehicles and dronesand also announced the training and equipping of several thousand more Ukrainian soldiers.
