“It should be before,” Brazhe said. According to her, delay only gives Russian ruler Vladimir Putin it is time to continue military aggression against Ukraine.

According to Brave, Russia is still able to continue to fight, which is why the event should immediately increase the pressure on Moscow to try to force Putin to sit at the negotiating table. The urgent implementation of sanctions can be one way to do so.

“The US and their allies must make sure that Russia realizes that it will not be better than every day, but worse,” Brage said.

Braige also noted that the intelligence and the overall assessment indicates the lack of Putin’s desire to end the war.

Trump came to the same conclusion after trying to “keep the door open” for Russia, she says.

“It was a matter of time when it became clear that Putin was just fooling everyone and delaying time,” Brage said.

Prehistory:

  • On July 14, Trump announced that if Russia does not conclude an agreement on the end of the war in Ukraine, the United States will introduce “very harsh tariffs” against Moscow and its trading partners.
  • In response, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, stated that “Russia is not concerned about Trump’s theatrical ultimatums.” And Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov assured that Russia would cope with American tariffs because it has already “coped” with previous sanctions.
