According to one source, restrictions will probably not include new bank sanctions, but other options for pressure on the Russian leader are discussed so that it makes concessions at the negotiating table, in particular, regarding the 30-day ceasefire that Ukraine supports and Russia rejects.

However, the publication writes that Trump may also decide not to impose new sanctions.

The publication adds that “Trump is tired of peace talks” and considers the possibility of refusing to participate in them if “the last impulse does not work.”

Literally WSJ: “It is unclear what will happen if the US is retreating from the peace process and whether Trump continues to provide military support to Ukraine.”

Details: For several weeks, Trump resisted Putin’s pressure for refusing to agree to the ceasefire supported by Ukraine.

But, according to WSJ sources, Trump’s thinking was influenced by three key thoughts.

First, it is his aversion to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who, according to Trump, “encourages further conflict”, insisting on sanctions, although Zelensky agreed to the ceasefire.

Secondly, according to Trump, additional sanctions against Russia will not limit its ability to wage war, but will complicate efforts to restore US-Russian economic ties.

Third, Trump believed that Putin knew, and that the Russian leader would stop war as a personal service. However, Putin’s unwillingness to give in to Trump’s opinion about his Russian visa, especially after a telephone conversation last week, during which Putin refused to sign a ceasefire agreement.

That preceded: Trump on Sunday, condemning the latest Russian shelling of Ukraine, said he was considering the possibility of imposing additional sanctions against Russia.

Prehistory:

  • Trump sharply described Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, saying that he was “absolutely crazy” and warned that if he tries to capture the whole of Ukraine, it would lead to the “fall” of Russia.
  • Shortly before that, Trump, while communicating with journalists, stated that he was deeply dissatisfied with the actions of Vladimir Putin and stressed that he did not understand the causes of the current actions of the ruler of Russia.
  • According to the Air Force, on the night of May 25, the enemy made a combined blow to Ukraine using 367 enemy air attacks. There were 13 regions under the Russian blow. More than 80 dwellings were damaged, 12 people were killed, and 60 more were injured.
  • The EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Marynova noted that Russia is laughing at the world and attempts to reach peace.
  • German Foreign Minister Johann Vadeful called on a decisive response to a new wave of Russian attacks against Ukraine. In his opinion, Putin should feel the true price of war.
