Details: Journalists have found out what military units of the Russian Federation have on their arms and use the latest gas grenades of the RG-in, in violation of international agreements on the ban on the use of chemical weapons, as well as the laws and customs of war.
One example is the 114th Separate Rifle Brigade. Her military was dropped by chemical grenades in the shelter of the Ukrainian army, according to a video, which was shown on Russian state television on May 28, 2024. It stated that during this chemical attack, the Stormothy of the unit allegedly killed 17 and injured 35 Ukrainian military.
Investigative journalists have found that chemical grenades may be used on the battlefield by the 136th Motorized Rifle Brigade. This follows from correspondence in which Russian servicemen report in the spring and summer of 2025 on the volume of use of gas grenades RG-in and order additional parties.
The Kharkiv Directorate of the SBU received data on this communication in the Vovchansky and Kupyansky directions through agent networks.
Among the interlocutors who are rewritten under the pseudonyms, the journalists of “Schemes” were identified by Dmitry Novichikhin. It is with him that the military of the 136th brigade discusses the supply of chemical grenades.
In March 2022, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was informed about its belonging to this unit. The department noted that at the beginning of a full -scale war he was 20 years old, and he served as a senior radar. From the context of his reports this year, it follows that he can now be a specialist in providing, including chemical grenades.
As the “schemes” have been established, Rosgvardia can use forbidden gas grenades in the war. According to information from the Russian tax databases, the Institute of Applied Chemistry, which produces gas grenades of the RG-in, is a long-standing supplier of Rosgvardia. In October 2023, the press service of the unit published a video in which its serviceman uses the territorial and inflammatory grenades of the same manufacturer-the Institute of Applied Chemistry.
Journalists call another unit that can receive a RG-in the manufacturer-the central military-chemical landfill in the Saratov region, also known as the military unit 42734. Thanks to the resulting photo boxes from under gas grenades, the customs data indicate that the Institute of Applied Chemistry sent this cargo to the landfill near Saratov at the request of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The Schema investigation with reference to the data of the SBU states that, in particular, through this military unit, units of unmanned systems fighting against Ukraine, transmit gas grenades to the RG-in.
Scheme investigations also found that the Russian weapons manufacturer, the research institute of applied chemistry, receives components for prohibited by international law chemical grenades of RG-in from two Russian companies, which, despite this cooperation with the subsequent defense enterprise, are not yet under economic restrictions.
Reference: The use of poisonous chemicals is prohibited by the Convention on the Prevention of the Use of Chemical Weapons Signed by Russia, but also by the Geneva Convention. However, the Ukrainian soldiers have repeatedly reported the use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian forces.

- In July, the European Union’s main diplomat, Kai Callas, stated that Russia is activating the use of chemical weapons in the war against Ukraine, trying to force the country to capitulate.
