Details: The extras, posing as representatives of the TCC and the police, stopped men of draft age on the streets. The perpetrators, using military and police uniforms, threatened the detainees with forced delivery to the TCC, but offered not to do this for money. If the “detainees” refused, the perpetrators used physical and psychological violence.
In one of the cases, accomplices were waiting for their victim near the house. They accused the man of evading mobilization and informed him that they should immediately take him to the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The perpetrators pressed the victim against the fence, and then began beating him on the legs, torso, and head. Later, those involved said that the man must pay immediately if he wishes to avoid mobilization. Concerned for his life and health, the man gave them more than $3,000.
It is noted that one of the members of the group was a former police officer who, after his service, appeared in several criminal proceedings. Another two of them have been in prison more than once for committing a number of crimes: involvement of minors in criminal activity, robbery attack committed by a group of persons, theft, say the police.
The fighters of the rapid response department of the DVB detained the conspirators “red handed”. Authorized searches were carried out on the persons involved, during which elements of uniforms, money, bank cards, and mobile phones were seized. In addition, the law enforcement officers seized and sent for expert examination a weapon, a powdery substance and other means for the use of narcotic substances.
Members of the criminal group were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Odessa police investigators have already informed them of the suspicion of extortion.
Law enforcement officers are also checking the involvement of the exposed men in other crimes. It is noted that in the course of the investigation, the actions of the participants may be given additional legal qualification.
