Details: We are talking about Helsing’s attack drones, equipped with artificial intelligence technologies, which give them higher autonomy in the conditions of the enemy’s means of radio-electronic warfare. In the industry, these drones are compared to Taurus missiles, which Chancellor Olaf Scholz flatly refuses to provide.

In total, the company allegedly ordered 4,000 such drones for Ukraine. From December, they can start arriving in batches of several hundred per month.
Some prototypes are allegedly already being tested and improved in real combat conditions in the east of Ukraine.
A feature of the drone is modern software that helps it “orientate” on the terrain by many markers and fly to the target even in difficult weather conditions or “scorched earth”, as well as under the influence of EW devices. When the drone has identified a target and the operator has confirmed it, it is then able to engage autonomously, even if communication is lost.
The flight range is allegedly four times greater than that of typical Ukrainian kamikaze drones (however, the article does not specify which specific drones are used for comparison). At the same time, they are significantly cheaper than the American Switchblade and the Russian “Halls” and “Lancets”.
Defense Minister Borys Pistrius noted that he is “very happy that the delivery of these AI-equipped drones is already starting” and that Ukraine will be able to use them against important enemy targets, such as command posts.
On February 24, 2024, it was reported about the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ukrainian Ministry of Stratprom and the Helsing company.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently once again confirmed his reluctance to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
In turn, the head of the opposition CDU, Friedrich Mertz, declares his support for the provision of Taurus to Ukrainian forces and emphasizes that the supply of long-range missiles will not make Germany a party to the war.
“Free Democrats” can initiate a vote in the Bundestag on the provision of Taurus to Ukraine.
