Germany handed over 20 Leopard tanks to Ukraine

Germany handed Ukraine a new package of military aid, which includes two dozen Leopard 1 A5 tanks and more than 60,000 155-mm shells. Germany handed Ukraine a new package of military aid, which includes two dozen Leopard 1 A5 tanks and more than 60,000 155-mm shells.

Details: In addition to 22 Leopard 1 A5s, which the country handed over together with Denmark, as well as 61,000 155-mm ammunition, Ukraine will also receive:

  • one Warthog all-terrain tracked transporter;
  • three GEPARD self-propelled anti-aircraft guns with spare parts;
  • two TRML-4D air surveillance radar stations;
  • 10 MG3 machine guns with 500 spare barrels and breech boards;
  • 1 million ammunition for firearms.

In particular, Germany handed Ukraine 30 VECTOR reconnaissance drones with spare parts, as well as:

  • 20 RQ-35 HEIDRUN reconnaissance drones;
  • 20 unmanned surface vehicles;
  • 12 SONGBIRD reconnaissance drones;
  • six Hornet XRs.

The new German package also includes:

  • three BEAVER bridging tanks with spare parts;
  • one DACHS armored engineering vehicle;
  • six WISENT 1 demining tanks with spare parts;
  • 16 ground-based radar surveillance stations;
  • two AMPS self-defense systems for helicopters;
  • two border guard cars;
  • 112 cars (trucks, minibuses, all-terrain vehicles);
  • eight Zetros tankers.

Since the beginning of Russia’s armed attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Germany has provided Ukraine with material and technical means from the warehouses of the Federal Armed Forces in the amount of about 5.2 billion euros.

In addition, more than 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers underwent military training in Germany.

We will remind:

  • The day before, it became known that the German government allocates an additional 50 million euros for the treatment of wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
  • Also earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Annalena Berbock, announced the country’s plans to provide an additional 100 million euros in aid to Ukraine this winter.
