The President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Lyen has already stated that the decision to reduce the price ceiling for Russian oil should be made in conjunction with partners with G7 and will be discussed at the nearest summit of the Seven Group in Canada.

“It is obvious that at the G7 Summit in Canada, the ceiling does not reduce the price from $ 60 to $ 45 per barrel. In this case, the EU will not make this event in the 18th package of sanctions,” one of the interlocutors of “European Truth” said.

“On June 16, the Coreper meeting emphasized the need to coordinate with G7 on limiting the price of Russian oil, and representatives of the Member States expressed anxiety about reducing the maximum price,” he said.

The diplomat added that “a unilateral reduction in the ceiling of the EU oil price is unlikely.”
