Case of Defense of Kharkiv Region: A suspected colonel was released under house arrest and treatment

Details: The OGP stated that the prosecution party asked for a change in the suspect of an excommunicate 415 Battalion 125 of the TRI Brigade of a Precautionary measure for no detention “after studying the materials of criminal proceedings and characterizing the data of the former commander, taking into account his elderly.”

The defendant’s defense calls it his victory and assures that he will continue to fight the use of all legal mechanisms to “prove the illegality of persecution and achieve a fair decision.”

That preceded: During the court hearing, March 19, Lapin suddenly became ill. Emergency doctors, who were summoned directly to the courtroom, examined the combat and took all medical documents in the case. Lawyers noted that Lapin 3 disability groups, chronic diseases, lung problems. In recent weeks, the colonel has been in a pre -trial detention center due to a significant deterioration in health.

Prehistory:

• On January 20, the State Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine detained former commanders: two generals and colonels suspected of negligence, through which the enemy was able to seize part of the territory of Kharkiv in May 2024.
• As reported by the UP source, it is about the brigade general Yuri Galushkin, Lieutenant General Arthur Gorbenko and colonel Elijah Lapina.
• As noted in the DBR message, the investigation found that the brigade general (Galushkin – Ed.) Defined defense positions for the 125 TRI brigade, which did not meet its combat capabilities, and he also had other units that could strengthen these positions.
• According to the investigation, the former commander of the 415 Battalion 23 OMBR (Colonel Lapin – Ed.) In turn, did not organize a defensive battle in the settlements of Strelch, Krasne, Lipka and Slobozhanske.
• According to the DBR, during the reflection of the enemy’s offensive, the officer did not report to the senior commander on the results of the defense battle, did not take measures to stop the unauthorized departure of 12 battalion servicemen and gave one -way combat order in the absence of the senior commander. The former combat also ignored and failed to execute the command of the brigade commander to restore the lost positions.
