An earthquake occurred in Romania, tremors were also felt in Odesa region – the head of the OVA

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in Romania. Earthquakes were also felt in Moldova and Odesa region, Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said.

According to his data, in the south of the Odesa region, the earthquake previously reached 2-4 points. Tremors were also felt in other regions of the region.

“According to operational information of emergency services and according to the reports of duty officers, all objects of critical infrastructure are undamaged and working normally. There were no reports of destruction in the region and the need for help,” said Kiper.

According to the Romanian Earth Physics Institute, the earthquake was the “strongest” since the beginning of 2024, and the depth of its tremors was 140 kilometers.

Romanian rescuers urged people to remain calm in view of possible aftershocks.

As Digi24 writes, the epicenters of the earthquake were felt by residents of Bucharest, as well as countries neighboring Romania – Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine, in particular the city of Odesa, which is 340 kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake.
