Among all voters surveyed, 49% approve of further assistance to Ukraine, while 44% oppose.
This gap of views was the result of increasingly isolationist sentiment among Republicans, while Democrats remain supporters of global partnership.
Back in 2019, the views of both parties on the alliances were 15 points. By 2023, the gap increased twice: 80% of democrats and only 50% of Republicans believed that such alliances benefit.
NATO’s views have also been divided: 81% of Democrats and only 31% of Republicans are positive about the Alliance.
Differences are also noticeable in relation to free trade. 77% of Republicans believe that duties create jobs in the United States, while 93% of Democrats are convinced that it is harming the economy by raising prices.
The survey was conducted before the stock market collapse, which occurred after Donald Trump’s statements to introduce new tariffs.
