In Dnipro, on January 10, a preliminary court hearing began in the case of People’s Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko, reports the correspondent of Radio Liberty.

Tyshchenko does not take part in the meeting and also did not join it via video link, as he did last time. According to Tyshchenko’s lawyer, the people’s deputy is at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada and therefore cannot be present. On December 23, his preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest expired.

The victim is present in the hall, Dmytro Mazokha, a former military special unit of the State Security Service “Kraken” and ex-policeman Bohdan Pisarenko, who, together with Tyschenko, is accused of illegally depriving Mazokha of her freedom.

Pisarenko filed an oral motion for a ban on filming it, which the judge granted.

Dmytro Mazokha, in a commentary on Radio Svoboda, said that the defense is resorting to “dragging the process” and criticized the absence of one of the accused.

“If (Tyshchenko – ed.) does not want to go to court, then he has an opportunity to finish it sooner: to admit guilt, that he is guilty, receive his sentence for it and carry it out,” he said.

The victim’s lawyer Ihor Voloshyn also believes that Tyshchenko is evading participation in the trial.

“The fact that he is in the Verkhovna Rada and participates in the meetings of the Verkhovna Rada is not a good reason not to appear in court and not fulfill his duties assigned to him,” he told RFE/RL.

He expressed his wish that the court quickly pass the preparatory stage and choose a new preventive measure for Tyshchenko.

The defense filed a motion to dismiss the judge. After consideration of the petition in the conference room, the court rejected it. This is the end of the preparatory meeting.

In December 2024, the State Bureau of Investigation announced the completion of the investigation into the criminal proceedings against the current People’s Deputy of Ukraine on the fact of the illegal deprivation of liberty of a participant in the hostilities in the Dnipro. The SBI does not specify the name of the deputy, but it is clear from the context that it is Mykola Tyshchenko.

In June of last year, a video from Dnipro spread on social networks: on it, people in balaclavas used force on a man who was walking with a baby carriage and made a remark accompanying a deputy.

Later, it was found out that it was the bodyguard of Mykola Tyshchenko, a majoritarian People’s Deputy expelled from the Servant of the People faction. He also appears in the video. And the man they handcuffed is a veteran of the Kraken unit, Dmytro Pavlov. The police opened two criminal proceedings: for the fact of inflicting light bodily injuries and illegal deprivation of liberty.

Tyshchenko himself explained the situation on social networks by saying that “a military man attacked the policemen.”
