28 people survived the plane crash in Kazakhstan – Ministry of Emergency Situations

28 people, including two children, survived the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer plane, which was on its way from Baku to Grozny and crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, all these people are hospitalized.

Residents of Aktau came to donate blood for the victims, writes Tengrinews with reference to local mass media.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reports that, according to preliminary data, 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, six citizens of Kazakhstan, three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and 16 citizens of Russia flew on the plane.

The causes of the disaster are unknown. Azerbaijan Airlines reported that, according to preliminary information, the cause of the incident was a collision between the plane and birds.

According to the Grozny airport board, flight J2 8243 from Baku was supposed to arrive in Chechnya at 8:20 a.m. Moscow time. According to preliminary data, due to fog in Grozny, the plane was diverted to Makhachkala, and then to Aktau.
