“From January 19, 2025, Facebook’s domestic policy has decided that Linux has been harmful software and marked Linux -related groups as” Cybersecurity Threats. ” Any posts that mention Distrowatch and numerous Linux-related groups and Linux discussions, or closed, or many of them have been deleted. All week we have heard from readers that they can no longer publish publications about Linux on Facebook or share links on Distrowatch. Some people have reported that their accounts have been blocked or limited to publication about Linux, ”the Linux Distrowatch site reports.

The Distrolatch team notes that such a policy is not logical if you take into account that Facebook uses Linux at most of its infrastructure and often places vacancies for Linux developers

DistRowatch tried to challenge the ban. However, Facebook representative stated that Linux remains among the topics banned for considerations of cybersecurity. A strange ban was introduced at the same time when Meta Mark Zuckerberg took a course to weaken moderation on her platforms.

New Meta policy – what to know

On January 7, Meta Mark Zerberg, which is the owner of the high -power social networks Facebook, Instagram and Threads, announced the desire to restore freedom of speech on its platforms. As part of these efforts, the platform will radically change their rigid approach to content moderation through which harmless publications were often suffered and facts verification.

Moderation with the use of automated systems will now be used only for posts related to terrorism, sexual operation of children, drugs, fraud. To identify less serious violations, the company will now rely on users’ complaints.

Changes in politics have already led to META no longer delete messages and comments that may be offensive to women, non -grain and transgender people. For example, women could be called with a sextric network someone’s property, and gays – mentally ill.

The META decision to refuse to check posts with the involvement of outsiders faced criticism. Against this background, the company has decided not to make changes in content moderation anywhere outside the United States.
