During the conversation, Meloni expressed Italy’s solidarity with Ukraine in connection with the new series of indiscriminate Russian attacks on civilian objects in Ukraine and informed Zelensky about sending emergency aid to support energy infrastructure and the population.
Generators provided by Italian companies will be sent to Ukraine in the coming weeks, the report says.
Maloney also reiterated her support for the ongoing negotiation process and the United States’ efforts to find a path that can lead to a just and lasting peace.
Updated: Later, Zelenskyi said that he had a “very substantive” talk with Maloney and thanked him for his attention to diplomatic work and support of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure with equipment that Italy will send in the coming days.
Zelensky’s direct speech: “We discussed the results of communication with the American side and the existing prospects and difficulties. We still need to work together so that Russia really moves to the end of the war. Italy clearly supports the need for real security and the prevention of any outbreaks of war. We are preparing joint work in Europe so that diplomacy will work.”
