Details: The President noted that within the framework of peace negotiations, the territorial issue still remains unsettled, and at the moment it is difficult to say “how it will be in the end in the documents.”

He emphasized that Russia wants to get the entire Donbas under its control – and Ukraine “does not accept” this.
“The Americans are looking for some format. They discussed the issue of a ‘free economic zone’. The Americans call it that, and the Russians call it a ‘demilitarized zone,'” Zelensky said.
He emphasized: Ukraine’s position is that the troops should remain where they are now on the front line. According to him, the American side sees differences in the positions of Ukraine and the Russian Federation and offers a “compromise”.
“They see that Ukrainian troops are leaving the territory of Donetsk and the compromise seems to be that Russian troops do not enter this territory of Donetsk. They do not know who will manage this territory, which they already call a ‘free economic zone’ or a ‘demilitarized zone’. This is what the compromise vision of the United States of America looks like right now,” the president said.
He emphasized that Ukraine may not accept such a proposal, because “when you tell us about a compromise, you should give a fair compromise.”
“We need to continue the conversation and try to find answers to all the questions so that everything is more adequate. For example, these retreated by 5 km, these also retreated by 5 km. If some retreated by 10 km, then others also moved by 10 km. Also, as is done in all wars, there should be some kind of monitoring,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also noted that the people of Ukraine should give an answer to questions about the territories – in the format of elections or in the format of a referendum.
The FT previously reported that the latest US proposals for a peace plan do not contain an appeal to Russia to withdraw its troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions to create a demilitarized zone there.
It was reported that the representatives of Ukraine and the USA on Wednesday held negotiations regarding the reconstruction and economic recovery of Ukraine after the end of the war.
