“We block propagandists who work for Russia, people who have gone over to the side of the enemy, and those who help Russia continue the war. And we also continue to take away state awards – only those who truly dedicate their lives to Ukraine deserve the title of Hero of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said in an address on January 19.
He also noted that new sanctions decisions are being prepared and will be published “soon”.
The details of today’s decision are not yet available, the aforementioned decree has not yet been published on the president’s website.
In October 2024, Zelenskyi signed decrees that implemented two decisions of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of sanctions. Among the legal entities against which the NSDC imposed sanctions at the time were Russian and Chinese companies, including the state corporation Rostec and several enterprises in the aviation industry.
In particular, lawyer Tetiana Montyan, who is suspected in Ukraine of justifying Russian aggression, and judges who work in the occupied territories have been subject to personal sanctions.
In November, the president signed a decree putting into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to “deprive Ukrainian traitors of state awards.” The first list included 34 people, including former government officials, people’s deputies, heads of the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office, prosecutors, artists, Russian political, religious and cultural figures.
